Learner License

  • Eligibility to get Learner License:-
  1. The minimum age for making a new learner license is 16 years , for which Motorcycle without Gear category can be applied. For this, they require the consent of their parent/guardian. 
  2. Age greater than 18 years are eligible to obtain Learner License for a motorcycle equipped with gears and also for a Light Motor Vehicle [Motor Car].
  3. Age greater than 20 years of age are eligible to obtain a License to drive a transport vehicle, i.e., a vehicle used to carry passengers or goods for hire or reward etc. such as taxi, auto rickshaw, bus or truck but they must have passed middle standard examination i.e. 8th standard. However, no person shall be granted a Learner's License to drive a medium or heavy goods vehicle or passenger vehicle unless he has held a driving License valid for a light motor vehicle (LMV) for at least one year.
  4. New learner license can be applied for maximum 4 categories.

 

Documents required to apply for Learner License:-

Attach any of the following documents for proof of residence and age along with the application in Learner's License.

  1. Aadhar Card
  2. Voter ID card
  3. Life Insurance Policy
  4. Passport
  5. Birth certificate
  6. Proof of statutory presence in India along with proof of residence in case of foreign national.

Process:-

If the applicant applied through e-KYC then-

  1. While applying through AADHAAR Authentication, the applicant's personal information and photo , name , guardian's name , address , date of birth will automatically Fetch in the application from AADHAAR ( the information will be Fetch in the column of both permanent and current addresses of the application ) , by the applicant. It will not be possible to change any entry other than the current address .
  2. The prescribed fee will be deposited online,  after the applicant entered the other information in the application.
  3. Applicant will receive the password for the test immediately through SMS on payment of the prescribed fee.
  4. Applicant can give the test for learner license from anywhere and at any time , if the applicant obtains 60% marks then he/she will be considered passed in the test and his/her learner license will be auto approved by the system immediately and the applicant will be able to print it .
  5. If the applicant fails in the test, he/she can re-appear for the learning license test from the next day.
  6. If any interruption occurs during the test due to internet or electrical failure, the applicant will be able to take the test again, for this no fee will be payable to him.

 

If the applicant applied without e-KYC then-

  1. Complete information will be entered by the applicant in the application.
  2. After entering the information in the application, the prescribed documents for proof of age and address will be uploaded.
  3. Photograph and signature will be scanned and uploaded by the applicant.
  4. The prescribed fee will be deposited by the applicant online.
  5. Applicant , along with the original copy of the documents attached with the application, will go to the concerned RTO office and get his/her documents checked by the employee nominated by the RTO , if the documents are found correct, will forward the application by the nominated employee for the Learning License Test.
  6. If any error is found in the application, then the in-charge of the scrutiny window will record the remark regarding the error in the application which will be sent to the applicant through SMS , after rectifying the applicant's error, the application will be resubmitted, on which again in number 5 . Action will be taken as per recorded procedure.
  7. Applicant can take the test for learning license from anywhere and at any time , if the applicant obtains 60% marks then he will be considered passed in the test and his learner license will be auto approved by the system immediately and the applicant will be able to print it .
  8. If the applicant fails in the test, he/she can re-appear for the Learner's License test from the next day for the retest.
  9. If any interruption occurs during the test due to internet or electrical failure, the applicant will be able to take the test again, for this no fee will be payable to him. 

 

Other information:-

1.    Learner license is valid for 6 months.
2.    applicant can apply for Driving License after 30 days of the issue of Learner License .
